The following is a favorite Recipe from our collection
2 cups flour
1 cup milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup soft butter or margarine
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine (cold)
1 tbs. cinnamon
1/3 cup raisins (optional)
Preheat oven at 4500
Mix the flour, baking powder and salt, cut it the 1/2
cup butter with two knives or a pasty blender. Incorporate the milk
and combine, do not over mix, it will harden the dough. Turn the dough
onto a floured board, and kneed 6-8 times. Again do not do more as
the dough will harden. Roll the dough out to a rectangle 12 X 16 approx.
Spread the 1/3 cup butter onto the dough, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon
together and spread this onto the butter. Sprinkle with the raisins
if using. Roll the buns from the back to the front, seal the seam with
water. To cut the roll into slices, use a piece of unflavoured dental
floss. Place an 18" piece of thread beneath the roll one inch or so
from the end, bring up the two ends, cross them over and pull, a neat
slice should be cut off.. Place the slices on a greased pan and bake
for 12-15 minutes (10 min. a convention oven)
Enjoy!
This recipe is surprising due to the pepper, its very nice.
2 grapefruit
4 tsp. butter
1/4 cup honey
fresh ground pepper
Cut grapefruit in half, cut a thin slice of the bottom so that the grapefruit
is stable. Section the grapefruit removing the membrane between each
segment. Place cut grapefruit in a pan or on a baking sheet. I use a pan so
that the grapefruit doesn't roll around. Top each have with 1Tbs of honey,
1 tsp. of butter and 1/8 tsp. pepper. Place broiler rack 6" from element,
and broil until hot, about 3-5 minutes.
Here is another recipe that is enjoyed by our guests
Heat oven at 350 degrees. Grease four 6 oz custard cups or muffin
pans. Fit cooked crepes into them arranging to form neat ruffles shapes.
Combine cheese and onion and sprinkle into bottom of each cup. Beat
together eggs, flour,. and cream. Pour mixture over the cheese.
If using custard cups, place cups on a cookie sheet and bake 25-30 minutes
or until set near center. Cool 5 minutes before removing room cups
or pan. Serves 4.
